Mustang Kids’ Club


 

 

            Welcome to a new year in the Somers School District!  This year the district will offer an after school program providing home work assistance and other activities. 

 

The goals of the program are threefold:

  1. Improve student-learning performance, of student of all ages, in core academic areas.
  2. Offer a broad array of high-quality activities that reinforce and complement the school day and positively affect school attendance and academic performance.
  3. Provide programming to engage families to enhance the home/school relationship

 

After School

The after-school program meets at the Somers Middle School from 3:30 – 6:00, Monday through Friday.  All students are provided a healthy snack. 

 

  • Monday through Friday

3:30 – 3:50  -  healthy snack and free play

3:50 – 4:30  -  homework zone and tutoring

4:30 – 5:30 - choice enrichment activity (Students choose from a rotating selection of courses)

·         Art/drama

·         Science explorations

·         Technology: movie making, music production, photography, and LEGO  robotics

·         Health: fitness, health, and nutrition

·         Nature studies

5:30 – 6:00 – clean up and dismiss to parent or guardian

 

 

The cost of the program is $75 monthly for the first child, $60 for the second child, and $50 for the third child. There is a 10% discount if fees are paid in advance for the school year and a 5% discount if paid in advance per semester. For scheduled Curriculum Planning (CP) days, which is separate from the regular program, there is a $20 fee per child per day. See the school calendar for scheduled CP days. All forms must be completed and returned to your school’s main office before your child(ren) may participate in the program(s).
