The Somers Lakeside PTA was created with the mission to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship. The PTA strives to raise the standards of home life and secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth. The PTA also supports a closer relation between the home and school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth. Lastly, the PTA works to develop united efforts between educators and the general public to secure to the highest advantage all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.
We are part of the Montana and National PTA which were created to meet a profound challenge: to better the lives of children. Throughout its 100-year history, the PTA has become a powerful voice speaking on behalf of all children, a relevant resource for parents and a strong advocate for public education.
Today, the National PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation with over 6 million members, Montana alone has 8,000 members. The PTA has been and will continue to be a leader in reminding our nation of its obligation to our children.
The National PTA lends a collective voice to children where they need to be heard: at home and schools; in urban, rural and suburban communities; and in our nation's capital.
