In August 2025, Chelsey Spence began serving on the school board after being invited to fill a vacancy. Though initially hesitant, she felt compelled to step into this role as a way to give back to a community she deeply values. Having lived in Lakeside since 2016, Chelsey and her husband are raising their three children here—two currently at Lakeside Elementary and one in preschool. With family roots in Paradise and Ramsay, and a childhood spent visiting the Flathead Valley while growing up in Seattle, Lakeside feels like both home and heritage.
Professionally, Chelsey is a Family Medicine Physician. Her path to medicine began with work as a CNA before entering medical school. Service has always been central to her life: she has volunteered with free medical clinics—including co-running one in Yakima, WA—provided countless free sports physicals for students, and participated regularly in community clean-up events. She has also been an active member of the Lakeside Community Club and serves on the Board of Directors for the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.
Her decision to join the school board stems from a deep appreciation for the warmth, connection, and shared commitment she sees in Lakeside. She is particularly enthusiastic about extracurricular activities, having grown up playing sports herself, but believes all aspects of school life—from academics to facilities—work together to create a nurturing environment for students.
Outside of work and service, Chelsey is happiest outdoors with her family. Winters often find them skiing at Blacktail, while summers bring family runs, including the annual Flathead Lake Run. A lifelong soccer enthusiast, she played into college and remains an avid fan of the U.S. Women’s National Team. At home, her three dogs keep life lively, and though she jokes she’d have more, she knows three is the right balance for now.
