Special Education Teacher or Paraprofessional — Somers School District (Lakeside Campus)
Location: Lakeside Campus, Somers School District, Montana
Position Type: Full-Time, School-Year Contract
Compensation:
Teacher: $42,000 – $60,000 annually (DOE)
or
Paraprofessional: $18 – $20 per hour (with outside supports provided)

Position Overview
Somers School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at the Lakeside Campus, serving approximately 15 students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade who receive special education services. To best meet the needs of our students, we are open to filling this role with either a licensed Special Education Teacher or a Paraprofessional who will work closely with outside supports and district staff.
The ideal candidate will be student-centered, collaborative, and committed to fostering inclusive practices. Whether as a teacher designing and implementing IEPs or as a paraprofessional supporting instruction and student needs, this role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students and families.
Responsibilities
Provide instructional and behavioral support to students receiving special education services.
Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure student success.
For Teacher Role: Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs; deliver targeted instruction; ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
For Paraprofessional Role: Work under the direction of a certified teacher and outside supports to assist with instruction, accommodations, and student engagement.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Alternative Pathways — OPI Special Education Endorsement Project
If you do not currently hold a Special Education endorsement but are interested in becoming a licensed teacher, you may qualify for the Montana Office of Public Instruction’s Special Education Endorsement Project. This program offers financial assistance for coursework, the ability to complete student teaching in your own classroom, mentorship, and up to three years to complete the endorsement with a two-year commitment to Montana public schools.

Minimum Qualifications
For Teacher Role: Montana Class 1 or Class 2 Teaching Certificate, or eligibility under the OPI Endorsement Project.
For Paraprofessional Role: High school diploma or equivalent; experience working with children preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
